How I Stay Vegan A personal story
How I stay vegan is a personal story for everyone. It has to be something you believe in, something to help you stay the road….here is my story.
Know why you are vegan? What is your main reason…have lots of reason to become and to stay vegan. I have three. Health. Research would suggest that those on a plant based diet live longer and can greatly reduce the risk of some major diseases like heart, stroke and diabetes. Environment. If you are a true environmentalist you would be vegan. You can do more for the environment as a vegan than anything else. The Animals. When I look into the eyes of an animal, I see a living being, that feels and in some instances, are very intelligent too. I do not want to hurt or kill any living being – and we don’t have to anymore. We know too much.

Other things that may help you on your way
Support. You will enhance your chance of success in any commitment, if you make it with and support others. Get involved in the vegan community on Facebook, Instagram, in person. Find people like you and hang out with them, share ideas and recipes. We are part of something bigger than our individual journey. When you are part of the vegan community you begin to feel that excitement and sense of doing something important. You will literally make friends all over the world, just be meeting another vegan.
Learn. Get some great cookbooks and get some new skills. Vegan cooking is different. It takes more thought and thoughtfulness. You gotta learn how to read labels and know what is healthy and what is just vegan friendly. You can always get some recipes online or go to your local library, buy a cookbook at a garage sale, take a class at your local vegan friendly supermarket, speciality store or continuing studies. I took a wonderful six month culinary plant based professional course from Rouxbe. Its online, its wonderful and I learned a lot of skills, techniques and they were all targeted to the plant based cooking. https://rouxbe.com/
Share. The best part of becoming and staying vegan is you can share your experience with others. Spread the good word. My plan is to get everyone to consider vegan by feeding them delicious food. Tricky huh? Each of us have our own way of influencing…I hand up is more encouraging than a slap on the hand.
Feed them and them will come. Thus my blog veganonthego and my Instagram Account. Sharing and learning together with a community. It becomes very powerful. You start to feel like everyone is vegan, even though you know its not true….you can see the dream.
If you ever feel yourself slipping or you so slip up, that’s ok. None of us is perfect. Don’t let anyone fool you that they are! Get back on track, reconnect with the why, with your support group, learn from your experience, reflect on where you want to go. Keep moving forward, its all good.
