Do you feel like some spicy vegan red pepper hummus? Me too!
The beautiful thing about hummus is you can make so many different kinds, the possibilities are endless. You can use chickpeas, beans, edamame…whatever your heart and body desires!
Today I felt like some chickpea hummus with a bit of spice. I picked up a couple hot chilli peppers at my local grocery store and of course some cilantro. This recipe can be served with veggies, crackers, chips, bread and more!
This recipe is so easy to make, simple, fast and delicious! Great for a summer appetizer or snack. Take to a BBQ or potluck! Let’s find out how….
Spicy Vegan Red Pepper Hummus
What you’ll need:
- 1 can of chickpeas (you can double this recipe too) drained, rinsed
- 2 cloves garlic (peeled)
- 1-2 hot chilli peppers (depends on how spicy you like it)
- 1.5 T. olive oil
- 3/4 t sea salt
- 1/2 t cumin
- 1 T lemon juice
- 2 T Peanut butter
- 1 bunch of cilantro (optional)
How to make your spicy vegan red pepper hummus:
- Put the chickpeas, garlic, chopped chilli pepper into your food processor and blend well
- Add in the sea salt, cumin, lemon juice and peanut butter and blend again
- Add in the cilantro and blend once more
- Taste and adjust the spices to your liking.

Serve with chips, crackers, on bread, veggies (my daughter says carrots are the best), in a wrap, on a salad or pasta. Whatever you think will work.
