Homemade Cranberry Sauce
Homemade Cranberry Sauce. Special meals at our house growing up, always called for stuffing and cranberry sauce. My mom made her cranberry sauce from scratch and I always do too. The fact is, homemade cranberry sauce is ultra-simple to make – only 5 ingredients and it’s fun to make too. I love watching the cranberries pop open as the sauce starts to take shape. Of course the flavour is awesome too!
If you’ve never made your own cranberry sauce, take a chance, it will take you 15 minutes and you, your guests and family will love you for it. Create some memories!
Homemade Cranberry Sauce
This is going to take you about 20 minutes to a half hour all done. I usually make my sauce a day or so before the meal, one thing less to do on a busy day. It will store beautifully in the fridge.
What you will need to make your Homemade Cranberry Sauce:
- One bag of fresh cranberries (organic if possible)
- ½ c of water
- ½ c maple syrup
- ¼ t lemon juice
- ¼ t minced ginger
How to make your Homemade Cranberry Sauce:
-
Wash the berries and remove and ones that are not fresh
- Place the water into a medium saucepan with the other ingredients, cranberries, maple syrup, lemon juice and minced ginger
- Bring to a rolling boil and boil for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally
- When the cranberries start to pop open you know things are going in the right direction
- When starts to thicken, remove from heat and mix it up until the colour is even
- Chill and you are ready to go!
If we have left overs, we use it the next day for Tofurky sandwiches or stuffing and cranberries. Great to throw in a smoothie too. If I make lots, or have left over cranberries, pop them in an airtight bag and throw them in the freezer for another day.
